Southery Parish Council currently has a grounds maintenance contract with Country Grounds Maintenance (CGM Group) in Downham Market.

This contract is a continuation from last year when the work they did in the village was completed well. The grounds maintenance schedule covers grass cutting, strimming, weed spraying, litter picking for particular areas around the village for the Parish Council.  The schedule runs for 34 weeks from the beginning of March till mid October, as this is the ‘growing season’.

This year the contractor has failed the Parish Council and the community it represents by not completing the grounds maintenance to  the high standard expected by the Parishioners and the Councillors.  This has, and is continuing to caused terrible distress to people visiting the cemetery,  using play area grounds and facilities, and those living in the village.

The Parish Council has kept a photographic record of the work not completed and this has been forwarded to the contractor with complaints.  As a result of none completion of work the Parish Council has not paid the invoices issued by the contractor and will seek to withhold payments until a satisfactory conclusion is found.

The Parish Council would like to apologise for the distress this situation is causing Parishioners and those visiting the cemetery,  play area and for those seeing how untidy the village looks.  For those that have fed back comments directly to Councillors and the Clerk, the Parish Council would like to thank you for taking the time to do  this.

Thank you for your continued support.
